I went fishing today and an awards ceremony broke out! It was magical I tell you.
First of all, I was I was able to finally deliver to DaKids his long awaited Challenge Trophy. I waited until he stopped crying and got done thanking his family 5 generations back before I snapped this photo. It was beautiful.

Next Deadeye showed up with his magnificent Rock Bass Trophy. You should have seen the entourage following him around. And he even had his shirt on! (he secretly told me he hasn't had it off since it arrived at his house. Oh yeah and we caught a bunch of pike.

Here are some pics of an exceptional day on the ice. Great to see you guys and I'm looking forward to our next outing.

We had 6 tipups down and we took turns(kid#1,Fawk, and myself)most of the day until we get a real nice bite. Well old fawkinnae jumps in front of me and pulls in a nice 30.5 incher.  While he was removing the hook and rebaiting I caught a bigger pike and it could have been his.


It was a great day to be on the lake with friends.  Fawk brought my favorite type of beer. FREE     plenty of CHEETOES and deedeye had some killer venison jerky.

Yes, it was indeed a great day on the lake.  I wanted to get a video of "Fauks" hook set but only got the recovery.  He launched into the fish with such a force, he darn near landed on another lake.  He make a nice recovery and once he found the line the fight was on.

I Here is the official Rock Bass trophy presentation photo.  Not sure who the guy is standing next to me but I suspect it was some guy who just wanted to get in on all the fun we were having.


Here is dakids getting the Summer Fishing Challange award for his teams first place.
Again, this odd guy kept getting in on the action.


I brought my son along just to see if he remembered all I taught him last weekend.  Looks like he learned well from the master.


Here is another big one my son caught.  Of course, I let him pull up all my fish so I didn't get a big one yesterday.


Here is one I got last Wednesday. It was a cold evening on the ice but the bite was hot.

When I first took deadeye out to my super secret big pike lake I made him swear an oath of secrecy.  Its so secret that there was maybe only 10 people out there on Saturday.  Great day and the guy in the teal jacket kept coming by the back of the truck and grabbing a handful of cheetoes every 10 min.  good thing I brought extra bags.

A little story about Mr. Teal.
Driving back from San Francisco in 1989, Mr. Teal was driving across Nebraska and saw this cool looking store in the middle of nowhere called Cabela's. He had loaded his family on a plane back to Minnesota a couple of days before and he was driving back by himself. A monster earthquake had hit the bay area only about a week before this, and the day of the earthquake Mr. and Mrs. teal had driven across the Bay Bridge (a couple hours before it collapsed). 

Anyway Mr. Teal thought, "I need a good winter jacket and this sucker looks pretty warm. I'm buying it (and remember it was the teal filled 80's)." And he lived happily ever after, even though sometimes his friends made fun of him.

One thing about Fawkinnae. He holds onto stuff for a really long time. Long after it is no longer trendy. I think he had a pair of Sorels for 40 years that he recently replaced. They were like racing slicks.

I totally agree guys, Andy and I were pretty green at it.  I actually think back to how bad we were.  Each year there are so many new things I learn and do.  I have probly forgotten more than I remember.

Yeah Collin and I were pretty green too - all new lakes that a lot of the guys new pretty well. We learned a ton. A guest appearance would be huge - moonshine or not.
