What would members think if we had a gathering of sorts, we could pick three areas, Like arrow head region, LOW region an central millacs or leech region, pick a spot, bring boats, if you dont have a boat thats ok im sure those that do would put you up, if not like I dont have a boat, an Im fine sitting on shore relaxing an soaking gently on beers, running a bbq'er ect. we could all bring food an have a buffete, an meet an greet. a camp ground would be best, we could have small tourny for braging rights, per boat with team names, aside from open water contest. i think  this would be fun an cool way to meet more members, an families. any thoughts?

Leech or mille lacs would work for me.  They are my top 2 favorite lakes.

I like the idea. Any lake that has a big camping area and some decent fishing could work.

Leach is fine with me.  Never fished it so that makes it perfect.

I will make a suggestion.   The earlier the better.  I am fairly sure that we will have a very late ice out again this year.  The weekend of May 23-25th could be choice.  Opener is a zoo.  Memorial weekend is a zoo.  I think the weekend before memorial weekend keeps a few folks at home getting ready for the long weekend.   :whistling:

Boar tell me again about huf season...

Early to mid June would be my suggestion. I suspect the campground will be pretty busy that time of year but should be good fishing.

Leech lake walleye tournament is May31-1st this year...will be a lot of people on the water that weekend...but easy to find where the fish are!!  You want to do it before the mayflies are hatching, best bite is before that.  The weekend DD suggested is usually still a good shiner bite.  But there is usually a good bite somewhere up until the Mayflies start hatching which is usually mid-late june not that they can't be caught then...

Very good points, im open for anythingweekend after school gets out? What ever works for the masses. Im flexible. Spcially when jt comes to huf seaon. If i dont get to go huf fishing im bumming. Hufers as we call them are some of the most delictable table fare there is. Usually one use large red bobbers an potatoe sacks to lure them in. Potatoe sacks have the stagnat smell of rotten potatoes in which hufers lay there eggs.

Boar, does school get out the first week of June?  There were some snow days (cold days) where school was cancelled.    Some have to be made up.  I still think the sooner the better.  If June is for sure then early June would be the ticket.  The jig bite on Leech is a lot of fun in the spring.   :happy1:
