Permanent houses are off the ice, walleye season still open until April 14 and northern pike open all year. Walleye/sauger limits filling with plenty of eater sized fish this week. Reports good in many depths from 13-17' by Long Point, Zippel Bay, Graceton, and Morris Point; 16-20' off Pine Island; 19-24' in front of Lighthouse Gap. Gold, pink or pink/glow, green/chartreuse are the colors tipped with minnow. Electronics beneficial jigging. Morning/evening bite in the shallower depths. Pike tip-up fishing heating up in 8-10'at Zippel Bay, Bostic Bay, 4 Mile Bay and adjacent to Lighthouse Gap. Some resorts still providing portable day guides.  Access points:  Adrian's Road is open for vehicles, Morris Point for snowmobiles/ATV, Long Point for snowmobiles/ATV.  Call ahead for details.

On the Rainy River, open water is 10 miles East of Birchdale.  Best depths 18-20'. Use pink, glow, or chartreuse tipped with live minnow or fathead.

Up at the NW Angle, fishing remains excellent and anglers are still accessing lake with snowmobiles and collapsible houses.  Call ahead to resort(s) for details this time of year.  For list of resorts, www.LakeoftheWoodsMN.com.
