Boar its a pretty simple fishery....best time for big ones Jan and Feb.  best time for numbers usually in March, this year not as much.  Its a big no stucture bowl like Red Lake.  U have to be willing to move to find em.  Some winters you can drive with trucks all over.  This year not, you have to have some kind of tracks.  You need a passport first off.  If you plan to go up pm me I usually know what the hot bait is and general areas to fish, where to stay, rules u need to know, etc. have made good friends with a bunch of locals.  If Im up there will show you.

Dont forget to get Mama a passport also.   Nicest place to stay to bring your wife is the South Beach Casino.  Id be happy to fill you in what to bring where to fish etc, Just PM me.  If you come early before xmas,  some of the biggest fish are caught right on the Red river from Selkirk to EOM.

Ok....Da General came up for a weekend of fishing, I thought I had a good lake picked out.
3 weeks ago my son and I were on this lake and caught our limit in a few hours. Since then, we had this melt down, then another foot of snow, freeze, 6 inches of snow, then melt down again. when we got to the landing, it was really poor conditions with trenches from trucks with water in them. It didn't look safe.... also, there was a warning sign that the DNR had put an aerator in the lake because the oxygen level had dropped....that should have been our game changer to seek another lake. But, we pressed on...needless to say...we did not catch a few. We got a workout drilling holes (right up to the power head), and caught a few bottle bass....but that was it.

It was still a fun adventure........

Good times again.  Fishing was slow but the company was great.  The third amigo couldn't make it as he had other plans.  Something about becoming one with nature and naked walks in the woods.

Went back to the Peg for the last weekend of the season, its still winter up there, found several places my nils auger with a ft extension could not get thru.. over 5 ft of ice.  But we caught a few... these 3 were 11-13+lbs.

Do you have any Walleye's mounted on your wall??  But if you catch 3 of those in 1 day, maybe you are waiting for a 15lb'er.
