LAKE MINNETONKA

Look for walleyes to hit minnows or crawlers on the sharp breaks and deep weedlines in most large bays. Muskies are being raised with bucktails on the points in 12 to 15 feet. Look for bass and sunfish in eight to 12 feet and crappies on top of the milfoil in 15 to 18 feet. Northern pike are hitting spinners and minnows on the deep weedlines as well.

Wayzata Bait (952) 473-2227

NORTHEAST METRO

Spinnerbaits tossed on the weedlines of Big Carnelian Lake are producing bass and pike. The 10- to 12-foot weedlines on White Bear Lake and Bald Eagle Lake continue to produce crappies. Muskie action has been best in less than 10 feet at Forest Lake, while sucker minnows are producing northern pike in less than 8 feet at Silver Lake.

Blue Ribbon Bait & Tackle                    (651) 777-2421

WEST METRO

Northern pike are being caught at Pierson Lake, Lake Minnewashta, and Lake Auburn in 18 to 20 feet on spoon plugs or deep-diving crankbaits. The Minnesota River is kicking out channel catfish and Steiger Lake is giving up bass and pike in 12 to 14 feet, but panfish action is slow.

Cabin Fever Sports (952) 443-2022

LAKE WACONIA

Crappie action remains strong behind Coney Island, Kegg’s Reef, and North Reef in 9 to 14 feet. Look for walleyes to hit fathead minnows during the evening hours on North Reef, Kegg’s Reef, and Red’s Reef in 12 to 17 feet. Muskies are being caught with bucktails off the weedlines on the south side of the island, swimming beach, North Reef, and Center Reef in 12 to 14 feet. Work the shallow weeds for bass and bluegills.

Mases In Towne Marina (952) 442-2096

ANNANDALE AREA

Crappies, bass, pike, and sunfish are on the 10- to 15-foot weedlines of Clearwater Lake, Lake John, Maple Lake, Lake Sylvia, Sugar Lake and Cedar Lake. Crawlers and live-bait rigs or jigs and fatheads are producing walleyes early and late each day in 14 to 22 feet on Clearwater and Cedar.

Little Jim’s Bait (320) 274-5297

CHISAGO AREA

Minnows and leeches are turning walleyes off Holtz Point at South Center Lake in 16 to 18 feet, the north end of North Center Lake in 15 to 20 feet, and Green Lake in 12 to 15 feet. Sunfish, crappies, and bass remain an easy catch on the 8- to 11-foot weedlines of most lakes and northern pike are hitting sucker minnows or crankbaits in 15 to 20 feet on North Center.

Frankie’s Bait (651) 257-6334

MONTICELLO AREA

Work the weedlines of Lake Maria during the day for sunfish and in the evenings for walleyes. Sucker minnows are producing bass and northern pike on the weedlines of Eagle Lake, Dean Lake and Lake Ida. Smallmouth bass action has been excellent with small sucker minnows on the Mississippi River.
