I like the idea of having this fund, but to seed it with 3.5 million from the fish and wildlife fund?  I don't know if I agree with that.  And look how much they are proposing!!!  :o

1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to game and fish; creating an endowment account to promote fishing
1.3opportunities; appropriating money;proposing coding for new law in Minnesota
1.4Statutes, chapter 97C.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. [97C.10] FISHING OPPORTUNITIES ENDOWMENT ACCOUNT.
1.7(a) To ensure that fishing opportunities in the state are adequately promoted for
1.8present and future generations, a fishing opportunities endowment account is established
1.9in the game and fish fund.
1.10(b) The commissioner shall accept private contributions to promote fishing
1.11opportunities. Money transferred under section 2 and any private contributions shall be
1.12credited to the endowment account. The principal deposited in the endowment account
1.13shall be retained in the account.
1.14(c) The interest earned on the principal of the endowment account is appropriated
1.15to the commissioner for grants to Let's Go Fishing of Minnesota to promote fishing
1.16opportunities in the state.

1.17    Sec. 2. TRANSFER OF FUNDS; FISHING OPPORTUNITIES ENDOWMENT
1.18ACCOUNT.
1.19The commissioner of finance shall transfer $3,500,000 from the game and fish fund
1.20to the fishing opportunities endowment account.
