fun weekend

I had a great weekend with both my girls.  The plan was to get out early sat morning before sunrise.  I forgot that my oldest daughter is a lot like her mother in that she has to look good, even for ducks.  We hit the water as the sun was already rising.  Had a few flocks buzz us as we were paddling across the pond.  After settling in we did get some action. The girls were shooting at the ducks, just didn't hit any.  Had a few laughs as they each tried their hand at calling.  Had a single circling only to get scared away by a funny sounding squeeking call. 
   
Sunday was a different start.  Got to the water 15 min before sunrise.  Had a beaver slapping its tail at us as we invaded their pond.  We were settled in and ready when the 1st flock buzzed us.  They dropped one.  It sailed out into the middle of the pond.  30 min later and lots of shots it was the only bird on the water.  As the sun was lighting the pond we watched as a young eagle circled the pond and swooped down and grabbed the duck.  It was funny to see the girls yelling at the eagle to drop the duck.  Win some, loose some.
