Overall it was not a bad season.  We all saw plenty deer to shoot but let most walk.  I hunted Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday Friday and Saturday.  I was on stand Sunday morning for a while and then went for a walk about.  I saw deer every day including several bucks.  One fairly nice 8 point that temped me but I could just imagine what he would be next year.

My brother in law shot this 8 point on Thursday morning

he's dark.. and looks heavy.. nice buck.

we have one more weekend where we're at. had more bucks on camera this year then ever before.. just nothing moving during the day. we had one 7 pointer harvested (a buddy's first basket buck) . none of the kids in our group have seen a deer yet.

i seen plenty of deer up at our farm in park rapids. I never pulled the trigger. I was hunting with our party and I didn't want to fill anyones tag before they had a chance. lots of small deer though.

down here there are way more decent bucks this year then ever before and they should be REAL nice next year. I took my sister out in the metro at the club I work at. shes looking for her first deer and only wants to shoot a buck. a very nice mature doe came out at 20 yards and she let the deer walk. Saturday when she was at work I went out to the same blind and hoped the doe came back. I still have a bonus tag. well long story short a big bodied deer came into the corner of the oats field behind trees so I couldn't see that way out of the blind. it worked its way towards me and I heard a grunt as I got ready. thought I was hearing things, it worked its way towards me at 20 yards I realized it was a really nice 8 pointer, ears wide and tall. had I not shot my buck already I wouldn't of hesitated, he gave 3 different shot opportunitys, I just hope he comes back this weekend when she is behind the gun.

Brother shot a nice 9 pointer that might be very old.  only had 3 teeth in the front of its mouth and the rest were black nubs.  Only dressed out at 150 pounds and didn't have much mass. We are sending in the teeth to get ages.  The girls teamed up on the new camp record for weight of a doe.  She dressed out at 169.  We weight every deer and the previous best was 139 and was aged out at 7.5.  It will be interesting to see how old this doe was.
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.
