                            Fish house burglars busted:

                           Two Bemidji men in custody!


BEMIDJI -- Two Bemidji men are in custody and some property stolen from ice anglers on Lake Bemidji has been recovered by the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office.


Zachary John Glime, 26, and Ryan William Gregerson, 26, were arrested Tuesday after Beltrami County Sheriff’s Deputies executed a search warrant at Glime’s residence on the 800 block of Thomas Road Southwest in Bemidji. According to court documents, deputies found multiple fishing items identified by three men who reported them missing earlier in the week.

On Monday, deputies received a complaint of a burglary at a fish house on Lake Bemidji. The complainant said his house was locked at approximately 5 p.m. Sunday and the padlock was missing at 3 p.m. Monday. The complainant indicated a “Big Volt” 450 LS electric ice auger and a battery powered radio with a spare battery were missing.

A second person reported Monday that propane tanks were stolen from outside of their fish house on Lake Bemidji. On Wednesday, deputies spoke with a third victim who reported stolen items to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, his property was found in the back of Glime’s truck, authorities said.

Deputies encountered Glime and another man while on patrol near Cameron Park at approximately 2:07 a.m. Monday morning, according to court documents. Glime informed deputies he was putting his fish house on the lake at that time, court documents said, and authorities took no action.

Later Monday during their investigation of the burglaries, deputies executed a search warrant at Glime’s residence, where stolen items were located and deputies also found a syringe containing opiates in Glime’s bedroom. According to court documents, Glime told deputies Gregerson had given him the stolen items in the house.

A search warrant was executed Tuesday on Gregerson’s residence on the 6200 block of Morning Dove Lane in Bemidji. Deputies found multiple items that belonged to one of the complainants.

Gregerson and Glime are charged with felony third-degree burglary, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Glime is also charged with fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, which is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Both men are being held at the Beltrami County Jail on $5,000 conditional bond. Gregerson and Glime are scheduled to appear in Beltrami County District Court on Monday.

When I used to own a perm. fish house I never locked the door and never left anything of value in it.  If somebody wants to steal something they break the door and take your stuff.  Unlocked, they walk in and see that there is nothing to steal and move on to the next house.

I have seen and heard on occasions some of those idiots find an empty fishhouse and nothing to take they just wreck stuff.

Could happen,  never happened to me.  Never had door broken or anything stolen.  I sold the perm and now only use a portable.  Fewer issues and cheaper.
