Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe will forgo net fishing as walleye struggle.

 :reporter; ......
The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe decided to suspend the contentious netting of walleye next year, a surprise announcement that drew a standing ovation in front of Gov. Mark Dayton during a public meeting Friday near Lake Mille Lacs.

The unilateral decision by the band -- a "tremendous sacrifice" :bonk: in the words of the tribal leader -- comes as the troubled walleye fishery in the iconic central Minnesota lake approaches a crisis point.

Better to late than never I think

But I believe that is just one of 5 or 6 tribes agreeing to not net.
