Well the temp sure changed to the minus mark and stayed there with -35 + degrees windchill. Fishhouse holes were even freezing over inside because we have very little snow to bank the houses with. But above all the fishing was pretty darn fair with the addition of a few crappies in buckets this weekend and a northern that measured 39 5/8".

The crappies are under the rough ice and we can't get our houses on it. We snugged them close to it and the auger with extension measured 48" to get through. Most ice is in the 30" range.

The Chisholm Couple seem to sit down every weekend on crappies and do well (I think I'll follow them!)
Sue fished 24 hours straight Sat and into Sun morning - she is determined!

Putz, Gambler and Floyd stuck out the cold weather also. The crappie and perch bite was kind of a hit and miss thing. The red or green glow still seems to be my best advice.

Westwind moved their bridge Sunday just a little way over to the side so Hillmans let us use theirs for a couple hours - Thanks guys!

The game wardens are warning everyone about fish on the ice, frozen (eyes and northerns). They need to be kept measureable and flexible for the tail fin. It could lead to a fine $$$ and they're clamping down on that issue and the 17" rule - they can't measure AT 17", they must be UNDER 17"
It's $50 for each centimeter over so an inch could cost you a bundle!

Westwinds road has several large cracks in it and are well marked to go around them, don't go through the stakes, go around them.
I'm going to move again this week and try to get on more crappies - wish me luck! I can always use it.

We had a group from Outdoors Weekly with us this weekend and they fared well. What a group - with lots of laughs.
Oh ya - Judge Judy came up for a few days and caught her share of fish too so there was no chamber quarters for me -it was too darn cold
We almost got lost on the lake last night but the GPS brought us home.

Mouse is doing very well now and adjusting to my life style on ice, eating live minnows, tangling up my lines, attacking the fish as they pop out of the holes and meeting and greeting everyone.

My son, son-in-law and friend were here for the weekend and after having a great time - locked their keys in the running truck. About 2 hours later they were heading home after bending my wire minnow dipper up to get in.
My son lost his glasses to the triangle this weekend - that'll teach him to snooze close to the edge of the bunk - (over a drilled hole)
and HE was the designated driver for the trip home!
