Hey, Snow Angel was right...come to Ely to ride

 Trails looked outstanding for the kind of year we are having.

 The groomer had ran and where the trails crossed the roads, it looked pretty dang good and smooth.

 It was cold and windy over the weekend, infact we cut out a day early and left on sunday

 -18 in tower and a stiff north wind.

 If you want to ride?  head to the Ely area

 I rode on the lake and would say, it's the best snow conditions in the state, there and Crane Lake

Really....Crane Lake?  I didn't think they had the snow.  How are the portages up there from lake to lake?  That may be where we head this weekend.

Riding in Ely is amazing, considering the little snow we've had.  For the Fun Run we rode the lakes from Ely to Babbitt and them back to Birch Lake to the Bear Island Lake portage.   We came out on the Babbitt Spur and picked up the Fish Lake Trails to the Taconite, which was a very enjoyable ride.  Even the 7 miles to Tower on the Taconite was nice riding.

Heading back to Ely via Lake Vermilion was the worst.  The snow was blow and there was just about a total white out.  Thank God and the snowmobile clubs for staking the lakes.  That's all you could see... from stake to stake, a tenth of a mile apart.

Yesterday my husband and I just rode the area lake trails and put another 60 miles on our sleds.  That makes it 900 miles for the season so far!
