2016 Black Hills Mule deer

I waited 8 years to draw this any deer tag!
1 of 16 non resident tags, so I was hunting alone.
Spent a week by myself in the Hills and had I not even seen a deer it would have been well worth it. What a relaxing week wandering the timber and spending some time at our cabin! But I was lucky enough to find this guy. Not a monster, but tickled with him for a Hills Muley. Best buck out of the 25 or so Muley Bucks I came across.

Nope not bad. 4x3. Not much mass, but it's not easy to find one with a lot a mass in the Black Hills. It's one of the better Muleys I've seen in the 20+ years I've hunted the Hills. I did see a heavier one, but didn't have near the width or height of this one. And he was 3 miles from my truck, been a long pack!
We went back out after Christmas to shoot some baldies with the kids and smoke poles this year too. I think it was the first time in 4-5 years the Hills had muzzy tags available again. I just love hunting out there!
