Good advice!
But you should not reuse the seal like this guy did. Always replace it with a new one. They are cheap. Reused seals tend to leak.
And if your gonna do this yourself they make a nice little tool for packing the bearings as well that will keep your hands a bit cleaner and do a better job of forcing the grease into the bearing. Fairly inexpensive around $25.
