Well, I've been running around prepping my old Sylvan for the opener.  I'll be out bright and squirrelly tomorrow.  Hoping to be on Prior Lake by 4:30.  I swung by the bait shop this evening to load up.  They won't open till 7 tomorrow, so I had to get there tonight.  I'll never understand why the shop doesn't open early on the fist day.  I'd think they'd make a killing.  Man, the work projects never end with an older boat.  Replaced the bilge pump, redid the livewell aeration system.  Cleaned up the rat's nest of derelict wiring from so many years of non-use.  None of the gauges on the dash worked when I bought this, so I yanked all the wiring just to clean up the mess.

Good luck to everyone headed out tomorrow.  I'm sure the game warden will swing by.  He usually shows up between 8 and 9 in the morning.  I always share a cup of coffee from my thermos with him.  He pulls up beside me with his cup in hand, and usually says, I better check you while I'm here."  He's a good guy with a pretty much thankless job.

When the sun breaks the horizon, I always pause for a moment in honor of way too many friends and family that are gone.  I sure miss Dad on these days.  Take a second to remember those who got you where you are today.  I'm sure they'll appreciate the kind thoughts.

Last but not least, it's gonna be chilly guys.  I know those life jackets are uncomfortable, but please leave them on, and have a great day.
