State Forest Nursery Reduced Operations Spring 2020 :pouty:

 :drillsergeant: ......
The DNR is adjusting State Forest Nursery operations in compliance with Governor Tim Walz's executive orders to help ensure the health and safety of all Minnesotans in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. To meet social distancing requirements and allow for safe operations, fewer seedlings will be distributed this year. We estimate we will distribute 446,000 of the 2.8 million seedlings ordered.

There is a very limited window of time in spring to successfully remove seedlings from the ground and prepare them for distribution. With COVID-19 restrictions, we simply cannot do the work this spring. Unfortunately, this work cannot be done later in the year. :doah:

Seedling orders will be filled based on the stock available and the order in which the requests were received. October orders will be filled first, then November, etc. Most customers will not receive seedlings for the 2020 planting season and refunds will be issued. Also, any customer may cancel their entire seedling order at this time without penalty and will receive a full refund.

The Nursery will contact customers to let them know the status of their order. We will contact each customer as soon as we can and intend to contact everyone by April 20.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and ask for patience as we work through this.  :pouty: If you have questions, please visit the Nursery website.

We are in this together; thousands of acres of DNR-managed forest lands also won't receive seedlings this year. :embarrassed:

The safety and health of our employees and customers is our primary concern. While unfortunate, reducing our Nursery operations this year is necessary to our collective efforts to combat COVID-19 and protect public health.

We will be ready for next year. :happy1:  Seedlings already in the ground will continue to grow and new nursery beds will be sown so that we have seedlings for future tree planting projects.

Where do they get the seedlings from? Do they raise them?

Never been a huge Walz fan but they are doing a stellar job in this crisis. Minnesota has the fewest cases per capita of any state in the nation.

I couldn't agree more on all aspects of what you said.

Spell check had changed per capita to per capitalized, I changed it now that I noticed what it did.

As far as I know they raise them and they are harvesting them outside. Maybe the distribution is where the concern is.
Hey look your bobber is up!
