UPPER RED LAKE...
There has been an overwhelming number of people heading to Upper Red Lake to go fishing.  There are literally traffic jams in Blackduck, Kelliher and Waskish.  Many of the lake accesses have shut down due to the number of people trying to get on the lake.  If you are planning on going to Upper Red Lake, you might want to call your access or resort of choice to ensure you can even get on the ice.
It is still very early in the hard water fishing season - please use caution if you are heading on area lakes.

wow  I was up at at 4 30 am yesterday morning.. my computer faces the hwy 72 here in waskish.
I never saw a traffic jam? I did see a line of guys standing  in line at westwinds bait shop as they are limitted how many can be in there .  they were standing with in 2 feet of each other not 6?
The phone went nuts as  a few were trying to find camping, and access. Beacon Harbor may be only guest at this time? Jrs thought he had room for all ice houses for camping. 40  or 80 acres of field was full around 9am.
They were parked on the dirt road to rodgers all the way to 23? I imagine they may of been kinda a traffic jam waiting to get to there resort, but I would call that a long line of trucks. Hillmans  never ran out of parking on the shore line ice. or westwind that Im aware of. On the other hand man were there portables on the lake. Never seen that many portable at one time all lined up in a row . i had a few guys park  here 6 maybe and maybe 6 ice castle also stayed down there lakst night? That was kinda a first, but again no traffic jams,
Jake headed home friday did say that timberline in blackduck was so busy he pushed onto bemidji for gas
I guess thats where they get the fake news saying
