it looks like  pine martin to me. i usualy see one or two a year while hauling wood. mostly back on the woods roads, but sometimes i see them running across the highway.

Sure thing jig,
looks to be a bit on the large side for a pine martin, fisher my boy i would have to agree, we have had alot of them around here for the last couple of years, and just an odd pine marten passin through. they really seem to like chasing squirrels around? in the trees. real? easy to trap also, don't seem to be very smart.

It looks a little bit like a black-footed ferret with the band across his eyes but they wouldn't weigh 3.5 lbs. unless he's really been porking out.

Two species of skunks are found in Missouri. The eastern spotted skunk, Spilogale putorius,has white splotches on its back and sides. It is now rarely found in the state and is fully protected as a threatened species under state regulations. Also known as the civit cat, adult spotted skunks are typically 14 to 22 inches long and weigh from 3/4 to 2-3/4 pounds.

The striped skunk, Mephitis mephitis, is more common. Its color pattern is typically characterized by two prominent white stripes down the back in a coat of jet-black fur. The amount of white on the back varies tremendously, from just a patch on the head to stripes covering the entire back.

Skunks are members of the weasel family (Mustelidae). All members of this family (skunks, river otters, long-tailed weasels, least weasels and mink) have characteristic musk glands. Because many of the habits of the eastern spotted skunk and the striped skunk are similar, the following discussion of biology and natural history applies to both species.

Polecat: Mustela putorius

Distribution: mainly in Wales but spreading. Widespread throughout the rest of Europe, as far north as southern Sweden & southern Finland.

Habitat: variety of habitats but most often found in woodlands & hedgerows.

Size: male:- head & body 38cm; tail 14cm. Female is smaller.

Description: long, almost cylindrical body with short legs & tail. Dark brown fur with yellowish under-fur showing through; black underparts, legs & tail; white patches on face giving a distinct dark, mask-like pattern.

Weight: male up to 1.5kg. Female a little over half this.

Life-span: up to five years or more.

Food: mainly rodents, also rabbits, frogs, fish, worms and birds.

Yup ya got it jiggle. It's a pole cat, it was caught by a trapper from holland. Happened to be his last catch of the yr. You can save the kick in the shorts, as it wasn't from asia but europe.
