we still have ice....
not sure how good it is.
the wind opened up some cracks and now have refroze.
I know there are spear houses in the bays... about 4 inches of ice.
12 for a high tomorrow... so we are making some...
40 degrees on Thursday we certainly aren't making much.

thank god no snow yet...
need to make some good ice before we get some.

Thats a good report.   We will get ice but just have to be patient.   Fish don't bite until you get there...alive.

oh, and quick follow up... i have now seen 3 deer that have dislocated legs falling on the ice and couldn't make it to shore... the wolves and eagles have made quick work of them.
but I do have a 5 and 8 pointer hanging around... so a few bucks made it through the gauntlet.

Wolves in MN...nawww we don't have wolves or big cats here, so the DNR claims.

these are deer that where sitting out on the ice suffering... easy picking. in this case a good thing. I would have shot and put them out of their misery if it wasn't a national park.
plenty of deer around here... and lots of wolves. I am not seeing any issues.
The biggest issue is lack of big bucks.  I blame the hunters for that, shooting every spike buck.  I would go for QDM here and say you need 4 points on a side.  But that's just me

In this case I do agree with you and would have probably done same thing.  A lot of guys around here are finding a lot of deer remains and seen more wolves this year than deer of any kind.
