I'm thankfully sitting next to my old friend Kirby again on another beautiful spring day.  She's laying next to me in the setting warmth of the sunlight (on her 16th spring).  I see her and remember when she fit into my hands as a pup.  She's still a sweet old girl.  A bit senile, hard of hearing, eyes not what they once were, and a bit ornery.  But she still wants to please.  We have an understanding now.  She leads, I listen.  I don't hold her to the standards I did 10 years ago.  She is a strong old girl.  Sleep well my friend...

I know my time is very limited with her.  Just wanted to voice what I feel for my old friend.

This is a nice post....reminds me of the day I had to put my buddy down 6 years ago, remembering the time my Chessie fit in my hand, then turned into a 120lb pile of muscle and hunting ferver....

Replaced him with a sweetheart of a golden, who is now 6...hope he goes till he is 16, but I doubt is as his hip seems to already be stiffening up
