Now that felt like opener...

Taking a chance that the winds of Mille Lacs would blow us off the lake in Andy's 16.5 Alumacraft we decided to head up Sunday and see if we could stay on the fish like we did on opener.  On the lake by 9:30 we headed out of Cove bay to our spot from opener.  Passed about 10 boats in ~ 20 feet of water drifting (with two drift socks), saw one small fish get tossed back but that was it.  No one around our spot so we tossed out two anchors and we held tight.

We moved a little off the structure and we missed a bite on a leech.  Another hour passed so we moved more on top of the structure and right away caught a 24".  Next cast I hook into something huge and get snapped off after 15 seconds.  Well it takes me about 10 minutes to get relined up as two hours into a windy feeling the fingures is a little tough.  Andy then get's a fat 23.5, I then get a 21 7/8.  Make a little more off the structure and Andy hooks into a 27".  The head (see 3rd picture) on this thing was absolutely huge.  I end the day catching another "over" fish @ 22.5".

I can't believe that I even consider a 6 hour day and 5 walleye (all overs) slow, but considering the time (not prime time) and the cold front that came in that's how the cookie crumbles.  All the fish came bobbering (we didn't try drifting because of the wind and no drift sock), with either a red jig or a white hook and leech.
