Surplus fall turkey permits available Sept. 17

Applicants who were unsuccessful in the 2007 fall wild turkey lottery may purchase surplus licenses starting at noon on Sept. 17, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced today.

Permits will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Hunters must appear in person at any DNR license agent to obtain one of the surplus permits.

Because hunting access in many zones with surplus permits is limited, hunters should obtain landowner permission before the purchase deadline.

The fall turkey hunt consists of two five-day seasons. Season A is Oct. 17-21. Season B is Oct. 24-28.

Purchasing a surplus permit does not affect preference points for future lottery drawings. There is no additional application fee, but regular turkey permit and stamp fees apply. Unsuccessful party applicants must apply individually to purchase surplus permits. All permit sales are final. No refunds will be given.
