Trailer Hitch

I just got a new vehicle and I need to put a trailer hitch on it to pull my boat.  Two questions, what class should I buy and would I be ok just buying a kit off the internet that I put on myself or should I let a professional do it.  I looked at the instructions and it looks pretty easy.  My boat is 14' so it is not really much of a load.

myself i bought a hitch from fleet farm and it took about an hour to install it on the wifes car for the boat . simple and lots cheaper then haveing a shop do what was easy !! buy a case of buckies and have a bud give you a hand and it,s done . enjoy a brew and chat with a friend .

Depends on the type of vehicle as far as what class hitch. If your new vehicle can handle the load, go with a class 3 hitch, that way you can pull anything except a 5th wheel.

Installation is easy on any of them, as long as you have the tools.

What kind of truck did you get.....? Hummer, Escalade, Suburban?  :rock:

For about $125.00 - $150.00 you can have it installed. For the money it seems easier to have them do it.

Saturn Vue, I don't plan on towing anything other than the boat.

Where can you get it installed for $125?  It looks easy enough to do, I'm just not real sure about the wires.  I am very mechanically challenged.

Go with a class 2 hitch, they are cheaper and will pull a 14 foot boat just fine, them Saturns are very nice, but they shouldn't be towing any bigger boats than yours anyways.
