Smallmouth action very good in the area, walleye slowing. Some very large bass are being taken lately on reefs or flats from 8-14 feet.

Burntside thermocline is about 16-18 feet, walleye action stopped after a Thursday evening storm. Large smallies hitting on plain hook/leeches, and green/chartreuse jigs with double chartreuse twister tails being even more effective.

Lake levels have dropped approximately 6 inches the last few weeks, but still far higher than last fall. Temps look to drop the next 10 days, hopefully that will fire up the 'eyes.

For up to the minute fishing reports, call me at 218-365-4744 before 10 am daily. I have 45 years fishing experience in the Ely area, and have owned and operated the Great Outdoors Bait & Tackle for 23 years (over five times longer than any other current shop owner within a 40+ mile radius) If I don't have an answer for you, ??? will call someone that does, and get back to you. Thank you ::fishing::
