Help with fishing line

I need some help selecting a fishing line.

I have a spinning rig that I use for casting cranks and bass plastics, etc. It's a little stiffer rod and I've been using 12lb mono on it. The capacity of the reel doesn't allow me to put on as much line as I'd like. And it seems like I'm always having problems with line twists etc. So I go through line on it fairly fast and the next thing I know the spool is half empty.

Anyway I just tried some fluorocarbon line thinking that might be the answer - and it wasn't. Anybody have any suggestions for a good casting line, a thinner diameter, less memory. Good for casting and some trolling and not a lot of stretch.

Well I have been using Powerpro for the past 3 years and I like it alot.  I haven't had a problem with it.  I troll, drift and cast with this.  I spooled up a couple other rids with Powerpro, and so far no complaints from the users.  Here is a "chart" I borrowed from the Powerpro site.

Light Tackle Applications

Select a PowerPro line similar in diameter to the monofilament you normally use. For example, if you typically choose 8-lb. monofilament for applications, you would want 30-lb. PowerPro.

Heavy Tackle Applications

If you normally fish using monofilament or Dacron lines of 50-lb. test or greater, select a PowerPro line of the same test.

Whe I pull cranks, I put on a 3'-6' 12# mono leader to tie on to.  There are other brands out there, but Powerpro is all I've used.  I have noticed it cuts through weeds quite nicely-and if you aren't carefull you can cut yourself too.  (Pull out a snag by holding the rod & line at the same time) I hope this helps you out! ::rockon::

Bought the PowerPro - 20lb. Tried it on Sunday with very good results.
Well... casted nice. Wyofish caught all the bass.

If your planning on putting it on a baitcaster go with the thicker diameter line.  If you get too thin the line doesn't cast very well.  I still use more mono still (mainly a walleye guy) but do have some rigged up with braid when I am bored and fish for pike / muskie / bass.
