First of all, forgive the quality of this shot because the light was low and the action was fast and my adrenaline was pumping. It was taken the first week of November a couple years back. 2 mature Whiteta il Bucks with decent racks but incredible body size doing battle. I have only witnessed full out battle 2 times in my life and it is something I wish everyone could see because it is impossible to discribe the power these Rutting Bucks have. Every time I look at this shot it pumps me up for the Rut.

One of last years decent Bucks. I am guessing him to be in the low 140 class. What do you think.

What do I think?  I think -- "I wished I could hunt the land where those beasts roam - as long as its a fair chase hunt. "

You mentioned the quality of the first photo.  I like the quality.  I don't think the lighting is bad at all and it seems like you can actually see them moving.  Thats a realy awsome shot.  You're pretty fortunate to have caught it.

(I think Im in the wrong line of business.)   ::hittingself::

Thanks for sharing Don.  Those are GREAT!!!

Excellent pics Don.... I feel the rush for fall hunting seasons now!

Where were these pics taken? I'm guessing Fort Snelling?

Great pics Don! Your pic "Fight6" reminds me of something we saw late last winter while down at my wife's parents house. They live in NW Des Moines (Urbandale) on a corner lot that borders a dead end with a huge wooded lot along the tracks. It's almost like a giant park without the playground.

We were sitting in the family room and out from the pines come a couple of Does and we could tell they were being trailed by a buck the way they were acting. Not long after they appeared, here comes a big old buck...a nice 12-14 pt from what we could see. He jumps the wooded fence and circles around the does and after a couple of minutes he starts puffing himself up and scraping.

Out comes a young buck who thought he was gonna challenge for the does. They both start pacing the fence line staring, snorting and scraping the ground while walking towards an opening in the fence. They both hit the opening and IT was on !!! They locked racks and pushed back and forth for what seemed like an hour and the young buck got the point and turned and ran like the wind.

Mrs Tree took some pics of it, I will have to locate them and post them in the photography/video thread.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread, just brought back that awesome and seldom seen event to my mind... ;D

Don, once again your pictures rock.  How big can you get one blown up for framing and still have it be sharp?
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?

Thanks for looking. These were taken in the North Metro area in Anoka county. The shot of the 2 Bucks really cannot be printed much larger than what you see here and keep the detail. I wish conditions would have been a little more photo friendly so I could have got some better images.
