I spent some time at Hansen's today and he said that the crappies are starting to go on White Bear.

Had not heard of much activity on Bald Eagle.

I guess the best place to go is by Malone Island. Not sure on the specifics as I rarely fish this lake but maybe check it out.

And....

If you need bait be sure and stop by Hansen's, he had a rough winter and needs the business.

All the big crappies are in Bald Eagle ;D ;). I made it out there once this year and we caught a few crappies, but most of the fish we caught were bass. I wish I had the camera, because my youngest caught one that went just over 4 lbs.

I imagine this past winter was tough on a lot of bait shops. Hansen's is a great place and hopefully this warmer weather will help them recover a bit.

Heard that the bite on White Bear has picked up! Crappies and sunfish are doing good. The north end of Bald eagle is another local option if your in the area. There are good reports coming in from everywhere.

I'm hoping to be out somewhere this weekend. Depends on what the weather does. I might end up at the Bear. I'll just have to get up at 3am and go sleep in the parking lot so I get a parking space.  ::)

I finally made it out to the Bear this weekend. It was nice to get out, but the crappies were tight lipped. The water was still only 53 degrees, which surprised me since we've had some nice weather and a good amount of rain. I've got 3 go to spots and they were all a bust. Unless being bit off 4 times counts for anything. :P Needles to say the pike seemed to be everywhere. I landed a few of them hammer handles, but most were too much for the ultralight gear. I'm hoping to hit it hard the next week or so, but baseball season is in full swing? :D and I've got 2 boys. Hopefully the crappies will wait for me.

Good luck?
