Monday 9/17 Report

Today I fished with long time clients and good friends Jeff and Tim Carlson. Jeff's son Tim wanted to give pike fishing a shot so we gave it a whirl. We were trolling Large 1 oz tandem spinner baits with a trailer hook and 7" plastic worm. On our first pass Tim got smacked buy a nice smallie and Jeff nailed 2 pike. Jeff then switched rods with Tim so he could experience using the hot colored pike bait and it worked. Tim banked a nice 30 incher in short order.

The trolling bite for northern has just begun and will improve as the lake temps begin to decline. We only trolled for an hour this morning and the bite was on.

After our brief pike adventure we headed to smallie country. The last trip out the larger smallies seemed to become active more towards mid morning and today was no exception. Best smallmouth action was in 28 ft on crawlers Carolina rigs with 2 small chartreuse colored beads.

See ya on the water, Lee

If I fished only to capture fish, my fishing trips would have ended long ago.
