Was at an auction the other day and saw used live traps go for $40-$50 a piece. That seemed a little high to me but maybe I`m wrong. Used Leg holds were bringing what I thought I paid 25 yrs. ago. Do they really hold there value that much?
What would be a good price at auction for all the different kinds of traps?

this would be griz' or goose' department.
i can tell you that with the prices of furs jumping, every body and their brothers will be out trapping. probly including me.
this will keep the prices of used traps up far as i can figure.
time to look for one of them short model 94's, the trappers model, to shoot me a buck off of the trapline

I have not trapped in years, but I would imagine the price of used trap would remain high because the price of new ones is pretty high.

I have a pile of them and intend to use them again someday.  Prolly sooner that later because I am sure my son Jake is going to want to learn how.

What's up with fur prices Jiggle?  Where did you hear that good news?

I`ve been to 2 different auctions that had traps and the bidding was crazy, with 5-6 guys with their hands in the air. It just seemed to me that they were paying pretty high $$$ for them.
Kinda hard to even think about getting back into trapping if you can`t afford used traps. Maybe I`ve been out of it for to long to realize these prices. Prices for new traps must be outrageous

destroyer, i have a simple solution for you.
put a "wanted add" in your local newspaper.
say in the add you would like to buy old traps that anyone has laying around, that you want to take your sons out and teach them how to trap.
i bet you will get calls right away.
probly not way out of the ball park either. i am sure you have an idea what is a fair price. go from there

Traps at auction sales are always high. One reason is there usually isn't a large amount of traps auctioned off and the peple bidding on them only wants/needs a few. To top it off the people doing the bidding have looked at prices in places that sell them by the trap, instead of by the dozen.

How many traps were at the auction? just guessing prolly not a whole lot (under 20-30)

The condition of a trap also has a major impact on it's value, which in my opinion a lot of people don't know how to judge a good trap from a bad one.

For $40 I'll build my own live traps.
