Monday 10/1 Report:
Two quick questions for ya. Can you say OCTOBER? Where did the season go already?

Today I fished with long time clients Bill Barron and his trusty pal John. Now, John has a habit of always catching the largest pike of the day and of course today was no exception. We did our usual trolling passes this morning, but the pike were still sleeping. I can't say as I can blame them with the drizzle clouds cover and cool breezes. It would have been a good day to sleep-in.

We refused to give in though thanks to John who got me in a headlock and insisted in one more trolling pass. Who could refuse an offer like that? We wound up with some decent pike during the midmorning period. Seems like Mr. Pike was sleeping late today.

As KC Ranger reported the other day the smallmouth action was a hit or miss today. "Seek and ye shall find". Most of the smallies were on the small side today, but if you found the right spot they were plentiful. The water temp has been holding at 68 degrees and on this date last year it was 63 degrees. It's now 12:35 am and I have to get up at 2:30 am so if you see a guy sleeping in his boat out there, please wake me.

See ya on the water,

Lee

The desire for fishing is like some diseases, in attacking a man with great severity without notice. It can be no more resisted than falling in love can be resisted, and, like love, the best treatment it its gratification.
