Thier might go my Canada hunting trip this year.  They have been talking about shutting down the boarder to waterfowl hunting in Canada this year.  At the least, possibly not allowing any poultry or waterfowl back in to the USA.  It is the strain that isn't harmful to humans is the only good thing.  This would definately blow :death2:

as of now it's locked down.  I'm supposed to go next weekend.... this absolutly sucks.  The U.S. FDA are a bunch of knee jerk morons.  Do they not know that 8-9 million birds will be migrating into the US from SASk?  How fricken stupid. ::banghead::

A FYI thing.  Avain flu is not a rare occurance in nature.  The flu at this farm is NOT the one many people think of that effected China last year and can kill people.

True to Govt form, one dept does not know what the other is doing, US customs closed the border to all wild birds too on Sat, only to have it lifted this morning, as the USDA did not ban wild fowl from crossing if it is dressed out.   It did no good to the 6 groups that had crossed as of 1am this morning at Pembina, as they had to dump all their birds.  1 group dumped 250 cleaned birds at 1am minto a dumpster, and they were 6th party to do so when they had crossed.  If they had slept in Winnpeg over night, they would have been able to keep this this morning...

BTW, it is ONLY poultry from SK that they are worried about.
God, help me be the man that my dog thinks I am.

That's some good news.  We talked about it this weekend and decided we were going to go anyway.  We were going to donate all our dead birds to the local Indian Reservation.  Can't wait for Friday!

John,

Not that your word isn't gold, but I called Customs and Borders at Pembina this morning and yes the ban is lifted.
