Thursday 10/04/07 report:
Today I got a chance to fish with newcomer Bob Gunnarson who was in the area visiting from Maryland. Bob wanted to catch a Northern pike since he's never had the opportunity. We aim to please and he got hooked up with 2 pike this morning. We had no chop on the water today and plenty of those nuisance floating weed patches. I bet we spent as much time out of the water pulling off weeds as we did actually trolling. Some nice winds would take care of those floaters so we can get back to some serious trolling again soon.

When we started out fishing the smallmouth spot and there was no wind what so ever and the fish were just pickin and poking our baits with no real enthusiasm at all. I told Bob to do a Norwegian wind chant with me and it worked. How could the wind Gods refuse to crazy Norwegians in the same boat. Soon The wind started to ripple the surface followed by a mild chop.

It took Bob a while to get the feel since this kind of fishing was completely new to him. After a short break-in time he was calling for the net. We started out in 25 fow then moved to 36 ft and found some better fish. Bob was one happy camper by days end with several Kodak moments to share with his friends back home.

See ya on the water,

Lee

All good fishermen stay young until they die, for fishing is the only dream of youth that doth not grow stale with age.
