With the ice building and spearing season soon approaching are you ready yet. My gear is usually ready from last yr when I folded up my spear house for t :happy1:he last time. Only thing I have to do is fire up the ol'auger make sure it has no problems (oh crap I just remembered I need a new gas tank).

Anyway I'm looking forward to it this yr. I have scouted a few new lakes out while on the trapline that show some promise. I have done a bit of home work on the northern population on them too as to numbers and size and clarity of water. Well I won't know until then but all looks good.

On another note allyou expierience guys should try and bring a newbie out. I've done that many times and more often than not they become one too. :happy1: Last yr I took out Dave O for a weekend and before the w/e was over he'd bought his own spear, decoys and harnesses. Now this yr he has a spear house some more extra spare stuff and is pumped up for it. Fact I talked to him the other day and he was all pumped when I said "got in ur blood didn't it?" his reply was "yea thanks".

Thats an awfully nice thing to do griz, taking a newbie out spearing. If someone is coming up to the Walker area and wants to give it a try, I have an extra portable and equipment. I'm available most days, but give some advance notice. Lots of good lakes around here, either for action or a good shot at a trophy.

I was planning on going out to take the boy on his inaugural spearing expedition today. With the weather the way it is I'm opting to take him out another time and play lincoln logs instead. I have a real good lake in mind to take him to, lots of action early on. I'm looking forward to this as it won't only be his first time spearing it'll be his first time hunkered down in a cozy little shack. His other ice fishing had been done on nice days when it's nice to just sit on the ice.
