Well, today wrapped up the 2007 Minnesota archery deer season. How did everyone do during the last few weeks?

I'm dissapointed that I only made it out twice this season, too many other things going on. Shotgun season is 4 weeks in the Metro area, so the whole month of November was a blur to me.

Pheasant hunting, shotgun deer season, early ice fishing and the holidays, too many choices!

I made it out quite a bit, but for the amount of deer around here it wasn't worth the effort.  :banghead:

I had a banner year.  I got 3 deer.  I gave one to a friend who nearly died from a sever brain injury and hasn't worked since May.  I got out last weekend and saw 2 on Sat and 2 on Sun.  No good shot so I'll look em up again in Sept of 2008.

I got out more than ever this year.  I was on a Metro Bow Hunt and also joined a group called Bucks and Buckthorn.  If you live in the metro area and want good opportunities to put meat in the freezer - sign up for those deals.  They're fair chase hunts with LOTS of deer.

Had another fun year in the woods with nothing to show for it.  I should have seen the signs when I missed a nice 9 pointer the first day of the season.  Probably should not have passed on all the does the first two weeks either thinking it was too warm to shoot one and have to field dress and butcher ASAP or pay the price of spoiled meat.  Oh well, next season will be here soon enough and we will hope not to make the same mistakes!  At least Mille Lacs is calling me this weekend and soon enough after open water will come back and I can kill a bunch of time on the lake until the stick and string season opens back up next season!  Needless to say I am already excited!!  Ah, yep, I am addicted!

I was disappointed this season in the amount of deer that I had seen compared to the total number of hours spend in the field.  I guess there is always next year.

It's hard for me to say how this year stacked up against past years as I hunted a new area at URL with OJ and his clan for the first time. I normally hunt here in southern MN south of Waseca.

We went up for the week after opening weekend and saw a handful of deer and brought home 3 (2 nice doe and a buck) from our time in the woods along with a nice 7 ptr that the rest of the crew harvested opening weekend before we got up there.

I plan on going up again next year so we will see how this year stacks up against next year...   :fudd: :bambi:

i didnt do so bad. i got just one doe but. seen atleast 7-8 deer a day. only a couple shooter bucks but no shot presented itself. and the one time i did get a shot a doe came in behind me just as i pulled back on the buck. so it was game over. looking forward to next year. can hardly wait.

I could write a book about this last season. What a great season it was! I did not shoot a thing but I hunted a lot, learned a lot and really enjoyed my time afield. Although it was frustrating at time I did enjoy every minute. I saw a lot of deer just not the ones that I wanted to see in range. I gained a new respect for bow hunting this year and am once again hooked but this time it is for life. I came off a 3-4 year break from the sport and cannot see that ever happening again! Good times!!!

I do have one regret!!! I wasted September and the 1st week of October. I should of been out a lot more early seaosn than I was
