I drill a separate hole for my camera.  I found that if I drill 3 holes, 2 to fish out of and one for the camera it work best for me.  I will usually drill 2 holes in a line and then place the third a little above them and in between if that make any sense.  I then place the camera in the one of the holes that line up.  That way I can watch both lures on the camera at the same time.  I hope what I wrote makes sense.   :toast:

same hole. I have an aqua vu that I can face downward and keep an eye on my minnow- have it 5 feet+ above the Lure that way I see some action. On rare occasions I see a blur across the camera---that's the monster!

Three holes in a straight, diagonal line. Camera goes in the furthest hole so you can see both the other lines. Flasher goes in same hole closest to me.
We all have three memorable trips in our lives...the first one, the last one and the next one.

It would be impossible to use the same hole for your line and the camera, the camera cord is not like a flasher cord, where it only goes to the bottom of the hole, the camera cord goes all the way down to the target zone, which is sometimes a foot from the bottom.

I drill 3 hoes in a triangle and fish out of the closest two, drop the camera down the middle open hole just outside the house, than keep the monitor inside. I never clean out the slush from the camera hole and always bank it, if its real cold (-0), I will drill the hole inside the house, so it doesn't freeze over.

It doesn't matter if your down viewing or side viewing, using the same hole as you fish in will not work. Imagine the tangled mess!
