Ice conditions Update: 12/26/07

12/26/07
I hope everyone had a merry Xmas. I was out again this morning checking, and the ice is still only 8 to 9 inches, up to 12 inches. It is still a lot like; well the easiest visual would be like driving on a waffle. Way too inconsistent for my me. The couple of slush spots that were out there heal over just fine the past few days.

We only ended up with 2 inches of snow yesterday, so that was a good thing, but we are supposed to get some more on Friday. It is snowing lightly as we speak. Maybe a 1/2 inch or so.The snow that is out there has shrunk down quite a bit, but there are some areas with 9 or more inches of snow. I will hopefully be plowing a road on Friday. If not, it will be Monday.

Still only 4 wheelers and sleds for this weekend. I will try to get a couple of my smaller 4 hole houses out sometime this weekend if we do not get the snow on Friday. From what I am hearing, most of the resorts are sitting with the same conditions as we are. There is going to be a lot of weight on the ice, if we get any more snow. Then we will be dealing with flooding conditions, which is what is already going on with the roads that have been plowed off around the lake. It just can not support all that weight with it being at 8 to 10 inches.

We will see what the next few nights will bring us for ice. It is the hurry up and wait season. It will come. It will be be another 1st of the year gig again this season. Do not even think about driving anywhere on the main lake just yet. Way to spooky rite now. It is not worth your life! That is all I have to say about that!

Be safe

We will see ya

When we see ya
