Patience is the key. The walleye seem to be there but waiting them out and fishing hard is the way to catch them. The walleye also seem to be biting very light, watching the graph for fish is a very effective way of knowing if they are there. Also a spring bobber will help you detect a bite too. The crappies have been showing up a little more now. Not to many are being caught but there are some around. The pike are still roaming the big waters and are hitting tip-ups with big shiners or sucker minnows. The hot colors still seem to be glow with red, and chartreuse. 
  The ice still seems to be about the same. 14 to 16 inches in the areas I have seen. With warm temps during the day the now heavy snow banks have cracked the ice under them allowing water to come to the surface and flood the edges of some of the roads. Stay away from the banks and don't try and cross them and you won't find yourself stuck in the slush. It's looking like cold weather for the weekend and by then every thing should be frozen up again. We have still been trying to plow out areas for wheel houses and portables. Ask in the bait shop before you head out on to the lake. And please Do Not set-up in the road. I know this sounds crazy but some people do it. Our main road now goes our 5.4 miles (by GPS) from West Wind. Good luck!!!
