with the building of the new 10-24 it diddn't get to much fishing in my self but at night. the renters and my brothers said the walleye bite is very good right now.  diddn't seam to matter what you used as long as it had a minnow on it walleyes where biting. we did catch a crappie this weekend.  but in shore i did see a hand full in a of crappies in buckets.
the ice was 14" thick where my houses where.  we got 3 rentals out and almost took them back in with us because of flooding and the snow drifts.  i will find out wed if i should of or not when i get back up there. till next time dave

Greetings fishermen!  We are still out about 1 ½ miles in about 13’ feet of water, with 14” of ice in most places.  Conditions today on the big lake are W-i-n-d-y!  The snow is blowing and the plow trucks are out and about, the main road is in good shape, the side roads are passable and will be cleaned up in the a.m.

The fishing today seems a little slower than it has been the past week or so.   Part of that may be the fact that there are not as many fishermen as there has been.   AND a storm moving in isn't helping either.    After the holiday the fishermen will be out there trying out all those new toys, (augers, and fish locators etc.) and the fish will be hitting....
That's it for today have a safe and happy holiday

Ice conditions are between 12 and 18" they would be a lot better had we not got so much snow insulating the ice.  Road conditions are very good with no bridges or ice heaves it makes for an easy travel to your spot.  Fishing has been good to moderate with our houses catching 15-20 fish per day with a crappie here and there and 2 big northerns that busted lines.

Have a Happy New Year from Outdoor Authority :toast:

finally got one of those pike in the house on Sunday night.  it took a very experienced 10 year old to do it.  it weighted 14 pounds a very nice fish.  they took a few photos and let it go. we moved our houses 2 miles out on the lake now hopeful thats where the walleye moved to.  i will have a nothere fishing report for you on thur. night

Fished URL Saturday and Sunday.  Limited on walleyes, and bucketed 1 crappie.  It's that 1 crappie that will keep us coming back.  The 2 northern that we brought in the house replenished our jig supply.....thanks for that nice neon green one!  We did better at dusk and overnight than during the day.  Lots of work for our limit, but we got to fry a couple on Saturday night, and they were mouth watering good.  Going up in 3 weeks and hoping the crappie bite is on.

Ice conditions 12 to 18 inches still  i have drilled 20+ holes in new spots looking for ice dept and some fish and haven't found 20 inches of ice yet

the bite has slowen down from the past few years.  i don't know if its the weather, traffic or if the walleyes and crappies are just catching on. we are still catching fish in the houses for the most part, but its not a sit back, play cards, have a few drinks and let the rattle reels do the work fishing right now.  you have to downsize and read your fish locator's and work the fish  to bite.  my 2 cents is to get as far away from anyone as you can. p.s. watch out for the drifts so you don't get hung up.  last weekend we did catch 16 crappies out of are houses but only 40 to 50 fish total.  not a good number for me.  but with downsizing and paying a little more attention a few more fish will be caught this week hopefully. on Monday i did catch a 45" northern and a 39" an hour apart i released both fish.  the 39" had two red glow hooks and yellow jig a wopper in its mouth.  i used a smaller spearing decoy sucker minnow to catch both fish

Red glow is a good starter, if that don't do it for you try green glow or red or pink plan hook.
