Tail Issues

Not really sure what's going on but my little guy is in alot of pain today.

We spent most of the evening yesterday swimming and playing at the cabin.  Then last night Morgan kept whimpering, adjusting how he was laying, and sighing a lot.  This morning he yelped pretty bad when he stood.  I felt his tail and found the tender spot between the middle and end of his tail.  It doesn't look to be broken, but he won't wag it or lift it at all.  Has anyone else had anything like this happen?

Sounds like a classic case of Cold Tail or Limber Tail Syndrome.  Check these sites for more info:

Yep.... My setter had it at the base of his tail... yelped if youd touch it, quit wagging his tail,(which is when I knew somthing was wrong for sure...) and it would kind of droop, which is really noticable on a pointing breed... I never heard of this happening until I inquired on MNO here a few years back and found out it was pretty common... well, it healed by itself and drummers flag is waving around now good as new.  Its gotta be pretty painful being its really an extension of the spine/backbone... probably some temporary nerve damage.... it'll take a little time to heal...
