Reported on February 5th.

The 2008 ice fishing season has been consistently excellent.  With colder weather the lakes have been making more ice improving the conditions even more.  The recent snow has given fresh powder for the snowmobilers but truck travel is also very good.

Fishing between thirty and fifty fish is still your best bet.  The trout seem to be more active in rocky areas. In areas with mud bottoms there seems to be a lot of fish but they are not hitting as often.

So far white tube jigs have been the winner all season and using
one with a rattle has been even better. Good solid hits came on the tube but faster baits like the buzzbomb seemed to initiate more bumps. Look for the fish off points and saddles that come out of deeper water. The trout seem to travel to these spots to feed on the bait that moves into these areas.

It's been a good season for trout on Crow many say it's out producing the surrounding lakes but we still haven't got a record of that big one for our tournament.  There has been a couple rumored to have been caught but the number one rule is you have to stay here.

The crappie are still biting.  For a full day of fishing it's been easy to catch a limit of crappie some have managed to pull ones in larger than they have seen in a while. Thirty six to forty feet of water remains a good target depth and using that half of minnow with a small jig, a glow jig if you have one, is still working. Fish are being caught at Hay Island but the spots out of town have been consistently more productive.
