Another bill introduced by this Chaudhary guy... read what he wants to change with this one.

(b) All walleye taken and in possession must be at least 14 inches. Walleye that are
less than 14 inches must be immediately unhooked and returned to the water.
(c) During the first seven days of the open season prescribed in section 97C.395,
subdivision 1, paragraph (a), clause (1), a person may not take and possess a walleye over
19 inches from waters of the state that are partially or wholly north of U.S. Highway 2.

does this guy want everyone to not fish for walleyes?  Why don't we just protect the species from fishing all together?
He is a DFL rep from St. Paul... and if you don't want him messing with things... you need to speak up.  This wording is in the same bill that would move the opener from the Saturday two weeks prior to the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend to the Saturday nearest May 8 to the last Sunday in February;
So we all know how popular moving the opener date is... I am for it... this other slot and throw back wording is in the same bill...  he is trying to pull a fast one.

Very typical thing to do for the DFL group, they have to control and tax everything and also make victims of everything.  They also throw tons of $$ at things in hopes of it will go away.  P.S. They also lie to the american public that they serve and are suppoed to uphold.( I did not have @#$!@#$ relations with that person.)  Live TV at it's best.   :censored:

Sounds more like he wants people to stay in the lower part of the state, he is from St. Paul right?
Open the season early, but not allow you to keep any fish. This year an open season will have boats at the landings looking at ice covered lakes..

WOW, a REP, the Dems must have converted him over to the dark side.  Not good!!!  Not too sure what to think about that one, all I know is our state and country is in a Recession right now or will be soon and there's way too much taxing and new fees going on.  I wonder if he has done the math as far as how much $$ it's going to cost to make/produce the stamps.  I sure hope they don't use one of there usual contractors that charges our state liek $10.00 for a pen or something???

This bill has not passed!!!

Wildlife was just saying that he read the new 08 regs and these changes are not in there yet. The reason these regs are not printed yet is because it has not passed.

We as Outdorsman should not allow this to pass either. Contact your reps and voice your opinions!

As much as I'd love to not have the opener fall on Mothers day weekend, I do not want to push it up too a week earlier either, i'd rather have it stay the same or a week later.

It's allready cold enough in the northern half of the state as it is, ice out up in this area is sometimes only a few days away from the current opener. Fishing is almost always better on the 2nd weekend too..... Generally because the water temps are too cold on the opener.

I disagree with all of the verbiage in this stupid bill and will be emailing my rep tomorrow!

Chaudhary is from Fridley, He's done some good things enviroment wise and has kind of put his foot in the sportsmans door... I like the stamp Idea, and I like moving the opener, but like Spin said It'd make more sense to go a week later, He does seem a bit misinformed on the limits and slots... but then hes getting most his info from the DNR "experts".... He is very reachable,  I contacted him a few times concerning the Twins stadium & he got back to me and not with just a generic cover letter.... contact him,  once ya talk to him, youll probably even like the guy... ;)

The only place it says about the 15" minimum is for the inland waters of pool 3

Just what do they consider inland waters of pool 3?
