Spent some time out in the woods this morning with my cousin Scott. We walked some new land that we have permission that borders the property that I hunted last year. The sign we found in the two hours was incredible. Get out now to find your buck and to find where your deer are bedding. I put all the info that I gathered over the last year and a half and put it together with what I found today and I know so much more. The deer sign sticks out like a sore thumb right now. I am confident after today we found at least one of the big boys core areas. We also found two bedding areas that are being used heavily. With last year notes it all adds up.

So if you want to learn more about your deer get out there now before we loose this snow!! I also walked the land that I thought I knew and what I saw today really opened my eyes as to what the deer are doing there. I just feel like I know so much more and am very excited!! The time is now! ;D

That is a question I have asked myself but I look at it this way. It is too good of an area for deer or a deer to vacate it. Sure, the deer I am after may have used it or may still be using it and yes there is a possiblity that he will move on but I know that spot will be filled in by another deer. I also have reason to believe that these are some of the biggest deer in the area that are using this area that I have found. He obviously uses that area for a reason, becuase it is isolated, quiet and safe. If he liked it I am sure another bruiser would be happy to take up residence if he moved. Deer (the general population) do the same things year after year and generation after generation, especially doe groups. I located two giant bedding areas most likely used by does and I am confident those habits will not change (great areas for next years rut!). I also lived in the area for a some time and watched the deer alot and a lot of the missing links and peices fell together today.

I know I am only one step closer to what I am after with a million more steps along the way but my findings today were huge and opened my eyes to a lot of great areas!

my experience with the deer out in my woods is they do change there patterns(does) but not to drastically. they bed in different areas in the winter than they would in the summer, right now they bed down in heavily covered pine tree clump. (pine tree clumps tend to be a bit warmer than anywere else in the winter) now the bucks dont really change, yes some of them do move out and vacate there core areas BUT theres usually a reason for it. his core area is were he feels most safe.
