Hey All,
I'll be writing my fishing reports from Lake Vermilion all this season. I thought that perhaps some of you on the board haven't yet had the pleasure of fishing the "Big V" before. So here is a little rundown on what you can expect from one of the best multi species lakes in the entire country.

Vermilion has 2 main basins and is divided into east and west. She is about 38 miles long and about 11 miles wide at it's widest point. There are 365 islands and 1300 miles of shoreline, much of it undeveloped. You could fish a new spot every day for the rest of your life and never fish them all. It has some of the best looking water anywhere.

You can fish "World class" populations of Muskie, Pike Walleye and Smallmouth bass, or fish for largemouth bass.
We have excellent Perch and panfish action as well. We have 38 resorts in all price ranges, several campgrounds and islands where you can camp for free, all over the lake.

Vermilion is a true Canadian shield lake, however you can find almost any habitat you can imagine somewhere on the lake. It's a large body of water, however it fishes much smaller, due to all the back bays and sheltered areas you can access. It can be fished in a medium sized boat, but you do have to respect her size. There are some large open water areas that can be dangerous in high winds.  :help:

If you're still planning your vacation, or just a weekend fishing trip, give Vermilion some though. The fishing is excellent and we have alot more to do than just fish.
Fortune bay casino is right on the lake. They have one of the best public golf courses in the country. We have great food, and the wild life is awesome. We have eagles, deer and black bear. Moose, ospre and a host of other species. It's a great place to bring the family.  :party3:

Great info.  I never realized how huge of a lake it is.  I only fished it once back in the late 80s ice fishing.  I will have to consider a trip up there this year.

Great post Ace, i really enjoyed reading that. It's great that you have that much knowledge of big V. I posted this in the fishing reports page too. Looking forward to your weekly reports.
