this is the biggest deer that came off our land this year, we would of done a shoulder mount on him but his right side isnt as semetrical as the left it seems to be smaller on the right. i almost hit this deer 2 times with my truck on opening morning once while pulling into the maintaince road and once agian on the driveway, i have seen this deer many times during the season but he was always on the neighboors property (anti-hunter) guess the rut made him make his last mistake i guess he didnt get lucky a 3rd time, deer was taken from one of my stands outside of menagha

i havent scored it, and i dont think my uncle did yet either, but it would be scored as a typical but the left side is just slightly smaller so that would be some reductions, i think it would score maybe 135

Rediculous? Do you have any idea what is involved in the process Cody? Some should be payed double what they are. Taxidermy is a luxury item not a necessity and should be charged for according to the quality. One thing you need to remember is we work for a living also and some of us have children and families to support. Why should we make Walmart wages when we provide a service that is an art form. Mechanics, electricians, plumbers etc. that run their own business are not working for under $40-$50 an hour shop rate and some are twice that. Why do people expect we should? I just wanted you and others to think about this a bit.  ;D

Hey Cody you can fill up your gas tank like 3 or 4 times if your lucky with the gas you saved by not mounting.

I didn't take it personal Cody. It may have seemed like I did but I didn't. I just here that a lot and people need to understand the reasons prices continue to go up. Not just in my business but EVERY business. The price of oil has driven my costs up about %20 in the last 2 years. Mannikins are made from foam, other petroleum based products from packaging on down the line,  and the cost to ship all the materials and hides has increased a ton. I have raised prices but have not really given myself a raise in about 3 years. When was your last raise?  ;) ;D So no hard feelings here, just trying to give an explanation for a complaint so often heard and not understood my many.

Anyway you look at it cody, it's a nice buck that was taken off one of your stands on the property.   :fudd:

I know that getting a deer mounted is expensive, but you get what you pay for.  The guy next door showed me his deer that he shot this last season.  He asked me what I payed.  When I told him. He laghed and said that I got screwed.  His cost 200 less.  After seeing his mount and knowing what my taxadermists work looks like.  He is the one that got screwed.

Nice deer Cody.  If you decide to get a deer mounted, do your research. Taxadermists are not equal.  I'm sure augie will agree.
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.

I hope to see you Cody and thanks! Dakids is right. You do get what you pay for. Many corners can be cut but the quality of the piece will definitely show it.
