pout,

Part time job for ammo? What better place than the gun club? If Rick was pullin he needs some help (like always),you'll get a discount on targets and ammo both and get to shoot more often.

Just a thought

Snow... thats funny cause I was milling over that thought the last week, I live like five minutes from there... problem is I'd get mouthy at the chumps who dont tip the trappers, but then again... i'm a pretty big dude, so maybe I wouldnt have to worry so much about it... but I still wouldnt get the tips the female trappers get... :whistling:  I could even give advice... (like, "I'd hang it up if I were you") ;) A buddy of mine used to pull there for x-tra cash....

Actually, most folks that hit the range once or twice a year don't realize that tipping is a good thing, alot of clubs have a tip jar either at the cashier or bolted right to the trapper chair.

we were at wild marsh on saturday at 9am it was a bit windy and chilly but started to warm up..overall it was a very nice day...i shot a 76!!!! should of reshot this time to overcome the last time but choose not to so it was fun...mitch struggled a little bit and ended up with a 58 i think. i went first on all of the stations like ya told me to. and he covered his part of the sponsorship fee also. looking forward to next months shoot. its gotta be done the 16th of may. cause im gone all of fishing opener weekend and i gone all of memorial week and the im leaving for that the wensday before memorial day. so the only date i can figure out is may 16th. let me know if thats good for you.

I ended up there on sunday. they allowed 2 days for the fun. real nice turn out around 70 registered shooters from what they said (last year the shoot I did there was around 9) they had rented a bunch of auto throwers and set up some real tough long shots. most targets were starting starting around 30yards away to start with, very challenging. I tossed up a 61, not my best score, but I heard there was a 19 turned in, and the master shooter I shot with gave it a 76 (maybe I dragged him down). I was glad I went.

Snow... Nope. :banghead: I was planning to.... I bailed on shooting that one, so I made other plans....thought it would be a rain out for sure going by what those weather experts said... so I ended up doing yardwork instead :bonk: :taz: :banghead: Startin out reeaal slow on the tourneys this year... at least I wont have to worry about getting burned out! :whistling:  Beeker, The guy Im getting em from knows a guy who I believe is a Gander Mtn. gun dept. mgr. that gets the Rio's and Keman's by the pallet. :happy1:  Cody... that always happens when ya dont shoot for score... no pressure/good score! ;D I wouldnt have rescored your score, it was pretty damn good... plus ya would have probably put us into AA like last year... we're supposed to tank it the first few weeks! :rotflmao:  I'll check my schedual to see whats gonna work & get back to ya.  Mitch will be just fine... if he's getting around 60% this early in his clays career like he is we'll be hearing him breathing down our necks in no time....  :happy1:

I think they're holding out on cash prizes to keep the cost down this year... and they eliminated the "required" lunch option too. so it was 45 basic entry and then the cash was the optional lewis system. he may of hit on that. I always wonder why everyone starts in D

Ive always wondered why they start you in D in sporting clays... The shooters that have shot before and the good unregistered shooters that are new NSCA members make it really tough on the recreational shooters/people that dont shoot often, to get punches and move up classes...

I would get beat in tourneys alot of the time when I started shooting, by new registered shooters that would score A scores or better(in D class) and in less than a season youd see those guys go from D to AA... And if you cant afford to shoot year round, and hit a tourney every other weekend, or hit the larger multiple day tourneys were you have more shooters in your class to help you get the punches... it compounds the problem.  And on top of it, the clubs that have those smaller tourneys dont usually get the turn out they would otherwise,(tons of B-AA shooters, & very few E,D & C shooters) so you end up with a bunch of big spendy tourneys... I allways thought they should start you in like B class, kind of like a trial period till you shoot a few tourneys to see where you belong, or maybe have a review period where youre not in a class till you have a few scores to go from....I complained a bit, for a while to MSC on their forum.. and a few people slammed me saying I was complaining basically cause I wasnt good enough to shoot my way out of my class... :doah: training-087 I told them they would get more shooters to register, and wouldnt lose shooters if they changed where you started, and if you were able to get  punches at the shoots with the smaller turn outs.  Well, now years later, I see the puch criteria has been changed/improved, so it wasnt just me complaining, that and maybe they got some new blood making decisions there.  But yeah,  That Forest Lake shoot was one of the shoots I wanted to hit... pretty inexpensive... close by...& none of the monkey buisness that doubles the entry fee. :happy1:  Im glad they had a good turnout there, maybe MSC will have more like it in the future....

forest lake went way out of their way to make the sporting guys feel welcome, I think they finally realized that they can't survive being just a trap/skeet club anymore. I like the start in B class idea. that makes sense. I didn't shoot good enough this weekend to deserve a punch, but I was still 3 birds away from one,  so this year I've missed 2 punches by 4 targets. but that's the way it goes,

Yup,and that is what keeps ya shooting,if it was easy it would'nt be fun.We should get a few members together some nice sunday before the skeeters come out and meet @ metro for a few rounds,I'll try to round up "spuds" if he's willing. ;)

Yeah for sure... those close misses, (and an occasional good score) definatly keep you goin.... My "mantra" used to be 'DAMN I HATE THIS GAME"  :banghead:It crossed my lips many a time & got me where I am today.... a seasoned, mediocre wingshooter! :rotflmao:  Yeah, that sounds good Snow,  Im in a 5-stand league there this year, so all practice is good... just put the word out when you guys wat to get out. :happy1:

With the opener next week,I'm thinking this sunday, only a 30% chance of rain,so we could meet around 10-10:30am for couple rounds or 4 and maybe the duck tower.

Anyone else want in?

We'll see what next weekend looks like later in the week weather wise,I'm good to go.
