9.5 inch Blue Gill

Would anyone mount a Blue Gill that is between 9/5 and 10 inches?  If so what type of mount would you do?

Thats a nice Gill. Did you get one? Pictures? Get a few more and do a stringer mount. Or I know where you could get a nice Bass and do a mount of the Bass chaseing the Gill.

Yeah, I got one over the weekend and have it in the freezer right now.  My standard before catching this one was 10", but this thing looked like a monster on the end of my line so I had to keep it.  I am thinking of getting a center piece mount that would sit on a table and having The jig that I made and caught it on some how either in it's mouth or dangling in front of it.  I would want to see if it would be possible to make the mount capable of being redone in the future if I catch some more over 10".  I am guessing this all can be done.  I guess the next step is to find a taxidermist and have a conversation!  I will try to post a picture tonight.

Definitely a nice sized gill. I'm sure you will get a mixture of answers here, but  a 9.5" gill is definitely mountable.

For me I aim for weight on the panfish,  a 9.5 can differ a lot from lake to lake, what did it weigh?  Close to a pound?  bottom line if it will bring a good memory by looking at it 20 years from now--its worth it no matter how big it is.  Good Luck, Capt. Josh

The weight is what did it for me.  I did not officially weight it yet, but when I first felt it I was surprised by how heavy it felt.  I am betting it is at least a pounder.  I will try weighing it tonight and posting a picture of it.  I had to take it by myself so I will see how it turned out.  Fish Guide, I was in your neck of the woods.  PM me and maybe we can trade a spot or two.

Maybe do a wall mounted "root system" deal, you can use a larger one, and then add more panfish over time as ya get some more chunkers....  sounds like a nice fish... why does a fish have to be youre biggest one ever to mount it?  Hey, if ya any thoughts about mounting em, they gotta be nice, right?  Ive got a few fish mounted, and they're not even close to some much bigger ones that I took photos of and let go... thats the key, so you can shut people up when they see your mount and say " jeez, I have caught way bigger fish than that" then ya pull out the photos.

i personally wouldnt mount it, but i am very picky on what i mount. but sounds like a monster bluegill. maybe a nice big pike chasing it would look neat i think.

The average bluegill that floats through my shop is 9". I do many 10", some 11", and very very few that hit 12". Give me a call and we can talk about your mount.
