just learned that on page 14 in the rule book when measuring fish that is they are tossed in a live well that some fish relax some and there length can gain 1/4 to 3/8 ths in length more in 10-15 minutes, just enough to put you over and also not in the book is a hidden rule I guess -is the dnr does squeeze down on them a bit if things are kinda iffy--but I cant find in the rule book how a bucks horns and body are always bigger if you miss them- or really get smaller after you walk up to them hummmm?

Well, that sure is interesting. all the years I been fishin, the fish always is way bigger when it is flopping in the boat, than after you take it up to shore and weigh it. According to my meticulus research on the issue, fish, and for some unexplained phenomenom, especially the widely known and highly respected Red Lake Crappie, shrink by approximately 21.59% in weight and 3.14 centimeters in length, when sworn on the boat to be "well I'll be, there is another 2 pounder and 15 1/4 inches!"? Just? goes to show the? power of the DNR.? Another timetested, scientific, laboratory controlled, nonrefutable, inexhaustable, totally engulfing, factual fact,-----debunked. :o

Now I know why the CO asked me if my live well worked and why I wasnt using it- my thought was huh why that ?, I just replied back-they have to be dead when leaving the shore to transport them, why keep them alive,he suggested we were very close on measuring a couple of them and they were accutally shorter when he measured them an hour later,-dead- almost an 1/8 less, at the time I never thought about it but the buggers shrunk that much being out of water that long (1-hour)
we use a piece of rain gutter with an end glued on then riveted a 36" ruler solid to it on the bottom, they even commented on how it was built, not much room for guess work with that trough

had time today to dig the rule book out and loOk up page 14 info that was given by a guide about the lenght stretching in a livewell tank after relaxing- I did some checking up on that- its invalid info as far as I know and as Saturday WAS NOTHING but crappy rain we had time to check out several smaller lakes and found some survey teams on duty- I again told them this info about live well and page 14 --they never heard of a page with that rule- (just wondering where this guy got his info)-- (I believed it and passed it on) guess that goes to show I better do some checking before posting- - while talking to them I asked about the DNR squeezing fish to get a bigger length- "" now this I believe is Truthfull" they have no need to squeeze fish or smash them, the only time they need to push is to controll the flopping fish, holding the head, helping to keep it flat and pinch the tail while checking the lenght in there trough--"just like you should do also" if you think its iffy and flopping around, we do it twice even if its under--Judy holds one end and I get the other in the trough- built with rain gutter (plastic) with and end glued solid on one end and a rule riveted solidly to the bottom- its the closet thing to DNR Measurement scales

I still believe the CO'S are our friends while hunting or fishing, but Im always worried like some of yous even in the sleeper rental business and beyond
examples

1st year
warning-- boat license wrong way on one side of boat

2nd year-18ft boat needed horn or loud whistle-given whistle but warned to get something

3rd year laws changed- need toss float even though we had 6 life jackets on board
warning

sorry for any wrong advise I passed on from someone else- without double checking RUSS
