They do. We put her on a high speed camera, a local shop has one. You can see the blades open at release. On some of the faster shooting bows, X Force, 82nd, and such.

I have found that if the heads stay in the closed position for a long period of time, the "o"rings seem to take a "set" and lose their ability to hold the blades tightly. Very carefully rotating the "o" ring slightly to a new position gives back the "locking strength" of the "o" ring. You can also just replace them, as they provide extras in the pack.
....Interesting, though.....we haven't had a complaint either. (except for one guy who shot his at a deer, missed clean, and buried it in the mud.....claimed they didn't open fully) And we've sold hundreds of them.

I use rage mechanicals for my compound and whatever nice fixed blade I can buy for my recurve. I have shot several deer with the rage 3-blade broadhead and have been very satisfied. I think we can all agree that broadheads are pretty expensive and one bonus with the rage is that they give you a blue practice head so you don't have to deal with ruining an already good broadhead.

I have been using 100gr Wasp Jackhammers the last couple years with no issues but I am thinking of trying the Rage to gain a larger entry hole.

Thunderhead 100 grain have been my choice in the past.  Of the 10 or so deer I have killed with a bow only one has gotten out of site.  Its not like I hunt over a huge field either.  I also am going to carry the Trophy Ridge Undertakers in my quiver this year.  I can't wait to see the wound channel when I lay the smack down on a deer.

I switched from Muzzy's to 2 blade Rage heads this year and am very pleased with the results. My first deer with the rage head was a doe at about 8-9 yards.  She was quartering away so I hit her right behind the ribs and the entry hole was about 1.5 inches and exited through the front part of the brisket between the front legs.  The exit hole was about 4 inches and a perfect clean cut.  The doe actually fell over within sight of my wife and she said the blood was gushing out.  In all it took about 5 seconds for the doe to expire and in my book that is about as clean as you can ask for in having a deer expire after the shot.  I definitely would recomend the Rage.

No offense, you got the deer, but what made you shoot at a deer quartering to you @ 35 yards? Would anyone else take this shot?

I have been a Rocky Mountain fan since I started hunting at 15, that was 30 years ago, and to this day I am still shooting rocky's. If it aint broke, don't fix it, is the philosophy I use. I am shooting there Blitz head and have had good success with it. If you study any of the websites on line that do broadhead tests, you will see Rocky is a very strong, accurate head, and is one of the sharpest heads out of the packet. So many of these new heads I see today really should be touched up before going in the field, remember a bow does not kill by shock like a rifle, but by causing massive hemorrhaging. Here is one website I go to that does a great job testing heads, you have to register to get full access, some of the results might surprise you.

Good luck to everyone this hunting season

I really like the G5 striker, they are razor sharp and all the deer I have shot with them have had a complete pass through. I have shot the rage but I dont think they fly like the G5 striker. I have shot the G5 Montec but  cant seem to sharpen them properly.

Go to the G5 web site and watch the video on it.  It looks pretty easy.

i am really looking forward to trying the new F-15 blade. they have both a fixed and mechanical... I think I'd go fixed... looks like a nasty broadhead.
