Mopho, you took the first shot.  Keep that in mind.  I made a statement and you came back with a shot at me.  Let's keep things in context.

You not once address a cable monopoly.  You go on and on about the lack of phone monopolies (Wikipedia stated LAND line monopoly for phone service), utilities, etc.  Everything but what I spoke of which is a cable monopoly.  I will take Wikipedia's info over some guy on here who hasn't posted anything other than his own personal "facts".  As stated before, if Wikipedia is wrong than I will admit I was wrong.  i researched this and provided what I believe to be a well respected source of information that stated there are monopolies in place and they DO lobby with millions of dollars often hiring relatives of decision makers for that purpose (no conflict of interest there huh).

I never said squat about equipment in regards to the cable company.  If you read it I referred leasing equipment from the phone company prior to the breaking up of old Ma Bell.

Did nobody catch the fact that Comcast has the worst customer service rating of ANY company or government agency in America (EVEN THE IRS)!!!!!  This was just from last year.

Mopho, you seem angry.  It's Friday, crack a beer and relax.  Maybe burn some incense and try some meditation.  I can envision that vein in your neck popping out.

I was looking for something to do tonight like a movie or other entertainment, but reading your guys posts and arguments is entertaining enough. I think I'll make some popcorn and keep reading.

Good stuff here........

I'm not really sure which side to choose yet myself, you both make good points, although this is very useless information. You 2 would argue over anything just to argue.  :rotflmao: Wheres Auggie and the General on this one?

Maybe we can come up with some sort of online game where you have to fight it out, like a boxing game or something, it would be cool to download something on our site and have the arguments settled in a real live online fight.  :taz:

so, lets  clear this up. Your saying   that what  you have an issue with  "monopoly" is the fact that there is no other  "cable" company.  we will stick to this term for means of  data  transport  being a hybrid fiber coaxial "hfc" system.   Your problem being that  you do not have  another hfc cable  company to choose from  making comcast a " monopoly"?

To you what is  making  comcast hfc system a monopoly?:

Lack of competition?  On the same mode of transport "hfc"

Lack of  the ability to  buy the same type or same  programing from another  person?

Lack of there being a competing "hfc" cable provider in your area?

The fact you feel you need to rent their equipment since you can't   get it elsewhere? ( you did feel the need to mention this about your parents and AT&T so this is a valid  part of the argument)

Or the fact  that they are a multi billion dollar company  and they use lobbyists and lobby money to get what they want? ( please  inform me of one multi billion dollar industry that  does not do these  things. ) For an example   time warner   had the  P.U.C. ( public  utility company) laws changed  so  that when they offered voip service they would not  have to become a P.U.C. and follow those laws.  did you  cry about that ? or are  you crying about the fact that comcast took that into consideration and  removed people  from the switched telephony system  and   released themselves from having to deal with P.U.C. status?

Then you start babbling about  poor customer service?

I have no  idea how this comes into the monopoly aspect of the equation  they really are  two different things. Does  Comcast have  poor customer service?  ABSOLUTELY! This is why i quit  comcast  shorty after i was forced into  comcast from timewarner  in the adelpha merger.  If  the west side was still time warner or i could have jumped states  i would  still probably be there.  I had a personal issue  of how the customers where treated under comcast . (  It still does not make it a monopoly)

Also  do you know that  "cable" is not a utility?  by the definition of  utility ?  yeah  they can get ornry and  refuse service  to you  and shut you off without providing a alternative service.

so  after all this bulls***  and examples  please  let me know how  "comcast" is a monopoly and or your definition of monopoly and if i need to  use  the Almighty googles and wikki  to do so i will do it.

What i think is the true issue is you don't like comcast  so you feel the need to complain about them  instead of talking with the only thing  that matters   YOUR DOLLARS!

I'v tried to keep up with the content on this post, but I can't figure out what cable TV has to do with monopoly?  I have looked over and over at my monopoly game board, and can't find Comcast anywhere! The good news though, is that I now own all the railroads and just passed go. Where's my $$?  :blablabla:  :toast:

Pat I have satellite. I could care less about cable unless they start delivering out of town 25 miles.

Mopho, you have to watch Dave. He is sneaky one. He will take your statements out of context and try and bait you into something else with out ever really answering your questions. Looks like it has worked on you. He's actually a pretty fun guy to debate with if you can keep your cool. He is completely feeding off your anger right now. Calm yourself and win the battle ;). Maybe Pat will have that game downloaded by then and you can open that can of wupass up on him. ;D

There Pat are you happy now????? You drug me into another train wreck!!!!! ;)

Mopho, pay attention.  Check the quote.  It says PAT.  You seem to have a focus issue.  I hear ADD is a tough condition to suffer from and you prove it post after post.   :rotflmao:
