That's some pretty sick sh**.

I've been involved with casterations of farm animals before, and alot of people do not use pain killers, but all of the other crap I have never seen on the farms I have helped out at.

I agree with you.

I hope Hormel is changing thier distributer policy, or revamping something to care of this problem. The main Hormel plant is 30 miles to the west of where I live, and I do not support PETA in any of their extreme tactics normally, but I am really ashamed to say that I have eaten pork that directly comes from them.

This still blows me away.

Tim,

We find the images in the PETA video appalling and they are inconsistent with our standards and industry standards for animal handling.

Even though the abuse on the video occurred several weeks before our supplier purchased the farm, it depicted practices that are completely unacceptable.

We expect all current suppliers to adhere to the proper animal handling standards from day one and continue to do so throughout our relationship. We are working with our supplier to ensure this activity is no longer taking place, and they are investigating this matter and will take appropriate disciplinary actions, including terminating employees. Underscoring our company's zero tolerance policy, we have in the past terminated employees, truckers and contracts with producers when animal welfare issues have arisen.

Animal welfare and animal husbandry have always been top priority at Hormel Foods. This is simply about treating animals humanely because it's the right thing to do. We take our zero tolerance policy for the inhumane treatment of animals very seriously and have implemented many standards outlined in our responsibility report : http://www.hormelfoods.com/responsibility/process/animalWelfare.aspx.

That was really bad.   I hope they get what they deserve, and not just a slap on the wrist.

Personally this is a hunting and fishing website, and the  :censored:_suckers at peta are anti hunters, why are you highlighting their "success" on something like this on a very site that probably has gotten hate mail from them....

Chris,

If Tim was just "highlighting Peta's success" I do not think he would have stated "I know how I feel about Peta, but for ONCE IN MY LIFE I agree with them".  I think he was just stating his opinion on this particular matter.

By that statement I would think you could clearly see  how Tim really feels about Peta in general.  It just seems like you tried to turn his point around to make it into something it was not.

I am sure this is not the first time Peta has had some success, everybody has their up's and down's, including them.  It's pretty much in the news and in the paper everyday.

And yes, this is a hunting and fishing web site, and Peta's success and failures have been brought up before here and probably will be brought up again.  If you didn't realize it most hunters have very strong opinions about Peta, including yourself, so why not bring them up here?  I think most of us are interested in their failures and successes, it doesn't mean we are all going to be joining them for their next protest campaign.

GG... I know what youre saying, but we have to be very careful when we say "we agree" with them in any context.  I would hope that we all agree, including Hormel, that its terrible that a few sub-human morons would treat a living creature that way... but after forcing myself to watch the PETA report, I thought to myself, just think what that idiot(s) is doing to the animals when there arent people around... I imagine there's alot worse goin on...(I for one would kind of like to kick the idiots ribs in that was repeatedly kickin that pig, man that ruined my day :banghead:) Peta would like you to believe that what they care about is a couple boneheads mistreatment of animals, but be very clear, their objective is far larger.  Read their objective at the end of their report.  It says it all....  Are you going to quit eating bacon, ham, hotdogs and pork because a few morons abused some animals... I guess what Im sayin is PETA doesnt need any help... its dangerous to side with them to ANY degree, we need to see through the surface and see their true objective.  Just as with the anti-gun lobby wanting to "JUST" banning semiauto firearms.... remember... theyre  the same people that would equal these pig abusers with us catch & release fishermen and other "horrible" outdoorsmen/women....(PETA considers C&R cruel and unusual treatment and has brought lawsuits to our gov. over it...) dont get me wrong, string up and publicly flog and jail those idiots who were doing this, but dont side with PETA because of it....

There are cruel people in this world and I do not condone most of the actions depicted here. I am glad to see that hormel was not involed with these practices. I do not believe Hormel is in the business of raising hogs They are only the processors of the animals. Peta must have illicited some freak to video and give the public the impression that this is an everyday practice.

I for one am glad you posted it inspite of the fact the it is a PETA video. It doesn't necessarily say we are in support of PETA because I am sure no one here is. It says that even though we are "evil hunters" we can see the difference between hunting and smashing a piglets head into the ground for kicks. I had to turn the video off at that point.

I don't think anyone here thinks what was shown in the video is ok and it shows that hunters have some compassion and UNLIKE peta can support something this horrible being exposed even if we don't agree with the organization it came from. In some ways it shows hunters are "better" than peta. If peta found a video of hunters saving an animal I would bet you won't see it on their website. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for posting it Tim. (even though it disturbing)

BLESS YOU SCHWINGER!!  :toast: You took the word right out of my mouth...although, I just couldn't seem to spit them out quite so eliquently!!  And I wish I could take credit for your post, because it is exactly what I MEANT to say!! LOL, seriously though,  I absolutely believe that you hit the nail on the head with your comments...and I can say I agree with every single word you spoke.  Very nicely stated!!

....And Chris...I guess I am glad too that you do not have any input on this site.  I didn't care for your last couple of inputs at all.  I was never trying to argue with you, I just thought you took Tim's post and tried turning it around...which you did.  I think you are very closed minded on the whole issue, and it's not going to matter what anyone says to you, your still going to post your nasty comments to people anyway.  I'm over it.
